CS22/122 Intro to 3D Computer Modeling

Graduate students taking 122 need Instructor Permission
This class teaches the fundamental principles, methods and tools for 3D modeling. We use Maya, Arnold, Substance, MASH, bifrost, and other state-of-the-art tools to create an environment, an abstract image, and an animated character.
No programming or previous modeling experience is needed.
The class is fast-paced and intensive—time-consuming and hard—but fun.

All images , models, and animations on this site were created by students in this course, most with no prior experience. Amazing, right?
Class Assignments:
environment - hard surface modeling
Learn some tools and basics for environment modeling. Then create a custom interior, with textures and lighting. Then render the image to create the final images.
Abstract
Create an abstract image using Maya tools, Mash, and Arnold.
biped - character modeling and rigging
Design and build your biped model. Add textures, rig it, and then bring it to life with an animation.
Practice
Practice Sheets teach you techniques, tools, and methods that will help you with your class projects. These will be completed in class or as homework.
